City Manager Mark Weiss City Manager Offers "Two Paths" to Close $3.5 Million Budget Gap
San Carlos City Manager Mark Weiss unveiled his Proposed 2010-11 City Budget today in preparation for City Council Budget Workshops scheduled for the Conference Rooms at the San Carlos Library at 610 Elm Street starting on March 13th at Noon.  Copies of the proposed budget staff report are available for review at City Hall and on the City's Web Site.

The City’s Proposed Budget for 2010-11 features "two paths" to a balanced budget.  The recommended path involves City Council authorization for the City Manager and City Department Heads to prepare service agreements for receiving Police and Fire services from neighboring agencies and to explore contracting for parks maintenance services.

Police Officer Sheriff's Proposal to Provide Police Services in San Carlos
At the December 14, 2009 City Council meeting, the City Council discussed and authorized Staff to contact neighboring police departments to provide contract Police Services for San Carlos.  

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Department and the City of Redwood City have both expressed an interest in providing these services to the City of San Carlos.  To date, the County Sheriff is the only agency to have provided a written proposal to the City.

Firefigher Cal Fire Provides Initial Proposal for Fire Services in San Carlos
The City of San Carlos has received a proposal from Cal Fire to provide Fire Services in San Carlos under contract.  This proposal will be discussed during the Council Budget Workshop on Saturday, March 13th at Noon in the Library Conference Rooms.

The Cal Fire proposal includes Advanced Live Support/Paramedic Service at both current San Carlos Fire Stations (Laurel Street and Alameda De Las Pulgas)  and provides an Engine Company at each station.

Feed The Pail, Feed The Planet San Carlos Food Scraps Recycling Campaign Wins International Award
The City of San Carlos and the SBWMA have announced that the "Feed the Pail, Feed The Planet" campaign developed to roll out the City's weekly residential Food Scraps & Organics Recycling Program has won the International Davey Gold Award for marketing excellence. 

The campaign materials were developed by LOOK Design, a local marketing firm located on Laurel Street in Downtown San Carlos.
