Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 provides comprehensive civil rights protections to qualified individuals with disabilities in the areas of employment, public accommodations, State and local government services and telecommunications.

The City completed the ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan in February 2013. The Transition Plan details a program that will bring our programs, procedures, practices, facilities, sidewalks and curb ramps into compliance under the ADA. The Transition Plan was developed with input from disabled community members and is intended to ensure access to our facilities, programs and services, and can be viewed below. Items identified in the findings will be incorporated into all applicable capital improvement projects. View the Capital Improvement Program budget here. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Program Compliance

Notice of Compliance Under the Americans with Disabilities Act & California State Law
In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, the Fair Employment & Housing Act (FEHA), Government Code Section 11135 and other applicable codes, we will not discriminate against individuals on the basis of disability in our services, programs or activities.

Employment: We do not discriminate on the basis of disability in our hiring or employment practices and will comply with the Fair Employment and Housing Act and ADA Title I, including the regulations issued by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under Title I of the ADA.
Effective Communication: We will generally, upon request, provide appropriate aids and services leading to effective communication for qualified persons with disabilities so they can participate equally in our programs, services and activities, including qualified sign language interpreters, documents in Braille and other ways of making information and communication accessible to people who have speech, hearing or vision impairments.

Modification to Policies and Procedures: We will make all reasonable modifications to policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to participate in all of our programs, services and activities. For example, individuals with service animals behaving within applicable standards are welcome in our offices and facilities, even when pets are generally prohibited.

Anyone who requires auxiliary aides and services for effective communication, or a modification of our policies or procedures to participate in a program, service or activity, should contact our ADA Coordinator as soon as possible, but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event.

Neither the ADA, nor California state law requires that we take action that would fundamentally alter the nature of our programs, activities or services or impose an undue financial or administrative burden.

Complaints that any of our programs, activities or services is not accessible should be directed to our ADA Coordinator: Jenny Liu, ADA Coordinator.
