Here's a quick update on the Capital Projects that are now underway in Public Works:

• Highlands Field Renovation, Synthetic Turf – The contractor has stripped the sod and is hauling it off.  City forces cleaned the storm drain as a cost-saving measure, and the contractor is now inspecting it by closed circuit TV. Next week, excavation will continue as the sand, infield mix, and existing drain rock will be hauled off. 

• Pulgas Creek Erosion Repair –Construction of the Pulgas Creek erosion repairs at 1091 Industrial Road has started and is substantially complete except for landscaping.     

• Sewer Rehabilitation – The contract construction is completed.  The contractor is working on the punch list, minor repair items, and change order work.  This project will be closed by end of the next month

• Crestview Drive Resurfacing – The paving construction has been completed.  The striping operation can now proceed since the striping design has been resolved. The hybrid striping design was approved by the City Council last week and the contractor was instructed to proceed without delay.  The contractor finished cat tracking for the striping layout.  The design engineer, CSG Consultants, and DPW staff checked the proposed striping and made necessary modifications in the field.  The striping will be started on Thursday afternoon, 8/26, and is anticipated to be completed by end of Friday.  Next week, the contractor will raise manholes and conduct cleaning.  Construction work will be completed by end of next week.
