<P><FONT face=MyriadWebPro>Among other criteria used in selecting these sites, primary consideration was given to visibility from and proximity to Highway 101 and other existing retail clusters. <item><title><![CDATA[City Council Updates Goals and Objectives - Strategic Plan Retreat]]></title><link>http://www.cityofsancarlos.org/gov/mayor_council/city_council_strategic_goals_and_objectives_.asp</link><description><![CDATA[On Tuesday, March 18, 2008, the City Council&nbsp;and City Department Heads&nbsp;met at the San Carlos Library Conference Room in their 5th&nbsp;Strategic Planning Retreat.

<P>At the retreat, this group of City Leaders reviewed the City Vision Statement, updated the City's&nbsp;3&nbsp;Year Strategic Goals&nbsp;and developed 3 to 5&nbsp;Strategic Objectives for each of the&nbsp;Goals that will move the City towards attaining these Strategic Objectives.&nbsp; New to the document is the goal to "Plan for and implement long-term financial sustainability."</P>

<item><title><![CDATA[4 Proposals for Garbage, Recycling & Organics Collection Services]]></title><link>http://www.cityofsancarlos.org/civica/press/display.asp?layout=1&amp;Entry=427</link><description><![CDATA[The <A href="http://www.rethinkwaste.org/"><FONT color=#2828c8>South Bayside Waste Management Authority (SBWMA)</FONT></A> has received four proposals in response to its Request for Proposals (RFP) released on November 1st for franchised collection services for solid waste, recyclables and organics. The&nbsp;current franchise agreement is&nbsp;held by Allied Waste Services of San Mateo County and expires on December 31, 2010.

<P>The proposals&nbsp;start an evaluation and selection process which will culminate in the roll out of dramatically expanded and more convenient recycling and organics (plant materials and food scraps) collection programs for residents. <item><title><![CDATA[Renovation of Highlands Park Lower Field Endorsed by City Council]]></title><link>http://cityofsancarlos.org/civica/press/display.asp?layout=1&amp;Entry=432</link><description><![CDATA[Parks and Recreation Director Barry Weiss and City Manager Mark Weiss announced that they have endorsed the top priority recommendation of the 28 Member Citizens Field Committee to renovate the Lower Field at Highlands Park as the first step in upgrading the City’s Athletic Fields.&nbsp; The report which also recommends that the Staff pursue installing synthetic turf at the Lower Field at Highlands Park was endorsed by the City Council at the April 14th&nbsp;City Council meeting.
