|On Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at 5:51 p.m. Deputies responded to the corner of Greenwood Drive and Laurel Street, for multiple reports of a physical fight, involving two male subjects. As Deputies arrived, they saw a vehicle fleeing the scene, westbound on Greenwood Drive. Inside this vehicle, Deputies saw that the passenger matched one of the suspect descriptions, provided by witnesses.|
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle at Greenwood Drive and Walnut Street. The passenger was identified as Andrew Alas, 27 years old. Alas was found to have a "No Bail" warrant for his arrest out of San Mateo County. He was subsequently arrested for this warrant.
Deputies detained the other suspect, in front of an apartment complex, located at 1202 Laurel Street. This suspect was identified as Luther James Parker, 45 years old.
Witnesses at the scene continued to assist Sheriff's Deputies, by reporting that the suspect, identified as Luther Parker, had a large crow bar and struck Victim Alas in the head. The weapon was then hidden in some juniper bushes, in front of the apartment complex. Deputies conducted a thorough search for the weapon and ultimately recovered the crow bar.
At the completion of the investigation, Deputies arrested Andrew Alas for his No Bail warrant. Luther Parker was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both suspects were transported and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility.
