San Carlos, CA - February 16, 2013 - Several police agencies in San Mateo County have agreed to pool resources and rotate a large traffic enforcement component amongst the participating cities.

On Wednesday, February 20th, the Saturation Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.) will conduct traffic safety and enforcement in San Carlos from 8:00 am to Noon.

On that day, you can expect to see 10 to 20 Police Motorcycle Officers from Police agencies around the County working on traffic enforcement in our City. Officers will be looking for distracted drivers (talking on cell phones and texting while driving), pedestrian right-of way violations, and unsafe speed, among other traffic safety issues. They will be focused in complaint areas, high accident areas, and school zones.

We will be reporting out the results of that program after it concludes. The primary goal of this event is to increase traffic safety and awareness to residents and commuters in known trouble spots.

Please drive safely and obey all traffic laws.
