|Subject :||PG&E Line 147 Update|
|Contact :||Jeff Maltbie, City Manager (650) 802-4228|
|January 25, 2017 – San Carlos, CA – Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is continuing work on sections of Line 147, the underground natural gas pipe along Brittan Avenue in San Carlos. This work is part of the planned inspection work being performed along Line 147. Work under Brittan Avenue is complete, but work continues on locations west of Alameda de las Pulgas on private property and property belonging to the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. Gas service in the area will not be interrupted because of this work and traffic along the roadways in the area should not be impacted, although there will be some truck traffic.|
PG&E continues to maintain a low pressure on Line 147 until it has been fully inspected and repaired, and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) allows the pressure to be increased. Despite a fairly cold winter thus far, there has not been a shortage of natural gas in our community and gas service has not been disrupted by the continued low pressure on Line 147.
PG&E estimates that this project will be completed by summer, and will request authorization from the CPUC to repressurize the line then. Questions regarding the project should be directed to PG&E representative Francisco Ybarra at 650-730-7057 or by calling 800-743-5000.
"We appreciate the patience of our community members throughout this process," said San Carlos Public Works Director Jay Walter, “but we all know how important it is to have PG&E deliver natural gas safely and avoid incidents such as the one that occurred in San Bruno. We feel this work will do that for the San Carlos community.”
