Per Section 5: Penalties of the City of San Carlos Fire Code, the City shall be permitted to impose
a cost recovery fee based on actual hours and hourly rates (as noted above) for works required by
Fire personnel to gain compliance of a violation of the Fire Code.
3. Inspection Fees

3.2 International Fire Code Related Inspections by occupancy
classification and frequency. These inspections are conducted
by the fire companies and Fire Inspector of the San Carlos Fire
Department.

These fees for the fire company inspection program are based on flat rate of $125 for a three person engine
company for conducting the fire code inspections. Inspections conducted by the fire inspector are based on a
rate of $65 per hour. Second and subsequent re-inspections for delinquent fire safety compliance will be
charged the total hourly rate for all staff involved in gaining compliance for a reasonable degree of fire and
life safety.

            False Alarm Fee:
                1. More than two reported ringing alarms at a building site which requires a response assignment in
                    a 90-day cycle, in which the system was activated maliciously. Person or persons responsible for
                    the malicious activation will be billed.
                2. Reported alarm activation(s) in which the system has continually malfunctioned, or is in disrepair,
                    and a response assignment was dispatched.
            This fee only required, when the third and any such there after alarm response for malfunctioning alarm
            has been reported in a 90-day cycle.
                Property owner shall receive the bill for: $600

5. Other
The city staff has the authority to charge actual cost incurred including time, material, and overhead if a fee
does not approximate actual cost incurred.
