| | DepartmentsFire & Emergency Services Options for San Carlos - 2010Background
In 2009, the San Carlos City Council asked the City Staff to begin a review of the Belmont-San Carlos Fire Department Joint Powers Agreement (JPA). The JPA includes a provision for a review of the agreement terms every 4 years. The Council Members noted that 4 years have passed since the Fire JPA document was revised and a review is now appropriate.
Since that time, the Council has asked the City Staff for a number of reports on various aspects of the provision of Fire and Emergency Services in San Carlos. This includes a discussion of the history of the Fire JPA, the services provided, options for a more regional approach to these services, opportunities to reduce Fire and Emergency Service costs and the potential to reduce these costs through obtaining these services with a neighboring fire agency such as the City of San Mateo Fire Department, Cal Fire, the Redwood City Fire Department and the Menlo Park Fire Protection District. Check the links below for copies of these reports and reviews for the City Council.
