2. Public Workshops and Study Sessions:
One of the most important aspects of the General Plan Update process is involving citizens. The City wants to ensure that all of its citizens have an opportunity to have a voice in the future direction of the City. You will have many opportunities to participate including the following workshops and study sessions:
a. Existing Conditions: Existing conditions data will be presented during a City Council/Planning Commission Study Session. Completed January 14, 2008.
b. Visioning: The Visioning Workshop will help to formulate a vision for San Carlos' future and to identify issues that need to be addressed in the General Plan. Completed January 8, 2008.
c. Youth Workshop: The Youth Workshop will identify planning issues that are important to San Carlos youth and their vision for the future of the city. Completed January 8, 2008.
d. Housing Meeting: Housing Stakeholder Meeting, Information was presented on the State Housing Element requirements and how the Housing Element Update will fit into the larger General Plan Update process. Completed April 3, 2008
e. Land Use and Policy Alternatives: The General Plan team will present the preferred land use and policy alternatives during a City Council/Planning Commission Study Session.
f. Draft General Plan: The Draft General Plan Study Session is for the public, Planning Commission, and the City Council to review and comment on the draft plan prior to the official public review.
g. Final General Plan & EIR Adoption: The public will have an opportunity to comment on the Final General Plan & EIR during meetings with Planning Commission and City Council. It is expected that it will take two hearings for final adoption of the plan.
3. GPAC Meetings. A GPAC meeting is scheduled for October 15, 2008 at 6:45 p.m. in the San Carlos Library, Conference Rooms A & B, Second Floor. All GPAC meetings will be held the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 6:45 p.m. unless otherwise stated. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and participate in the GPAC meetings.
The GPAC Speaker Sessions were scheduled for: July 16, 2008 (Wed) and August 2, 2008 (Sat) , in Community Rooms A & B on the 2nd floor of the San Carlos City Library. Land Use Alternatives Community Workshop took place July 30, 2008 at the Hiller Aviation Museum
The purpose of this meeting is to receive input on a preferred Land Use Alternative for the General Plan. Background information to help you prepare for the workshop will be provided in an Alternatives Workbook, available beginning July 23, 2008 at the link below and at the City Library.
