The General Plan Land Use Alternatives Workbook is a new publication that is now available on the City Web Site. This Workbook is to help residents and businesses in San Carlos prepare for the Land Use Alternatives Workshop on July 30, 2008, at the Hiller Aviation Museum, where public opinion will be sought on proposed Land Use Alternatives.
How do I use this workbook?
This Workbook is designed to assist San Carlos residents and decision-makers in selecting a preferred alternative for the City. This preferred alternative can be one of the alternatives presented in this workbook, or a hybrid that combines attributes from each of the alternatives. The workbook also includes a Policy Question Form.
What should I do to prepare for the Workshop?
- Read the entire workbook to familiarize yourself with all of the material
- Read and discuss the issues with your friends and neighbors
- Jot down notes, comments or questions in the workbook and bring it with you to the workshop on July 30, 2008
At the Workshop, you will be asked to discuss:
- your opinions of the alternatives for each study area,
- your thoughts on the locations for potential new parks,
- your thoughts on the neighborhood hub concept,
- your filled-out policy question form.
Please note that you will be asked to turn in both your workbook and the Policy Question Form so this information can be compiled by city staff and consultants.It is recommended that you put your name and phone number in the workbook in case you want retrieve your workbook which will be available for pickup at the Planning Department following review.
The General Plan Land Use Alternatives Book is being made available in electronic form below. You may need to download and install a copy of the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software on your computer or phone to view and print the document if this program is not on your computer.

Please note that copies of this Workbook (Chapters 1 to 6) are available for viewing at the City Library and the San Carlos Planning Department in City Hall at 600 Elm Street, but cannot be taken out of the Library. However, 100 copies of the Policy Question Form are available at the City Library for you to take home.
More copies of the Workbook and the Policy Question Form will be available at the Workshop itself.

- Review the Summaries in Chapter 6
- Review the Summaries in Chapter 3
- Record your opinions on these pages:
- Chapter 6

- Chapter 5(Page 32)
- Fill out the Policy Question Form (separate from Alternatives Workbook)
