San Carlos Green Programs & Efforts Highlighted by Institute of Local Government

The Institute of Local Government (ILG) is featuring the City’s new Green Programs and Climate Protection Web Site and programs as an example in their outreach presentations to other agencies. According to the ILG, San Carlos was selected as an example of what can be done in a small City to make an impact – both locally and as part of larger regional efforts – when it comes to successful Green Programs and action that addresses Climate Change. We’re happy to see some of our programs being highlighted and hopefully emulated as well by other agencies in the months ahead.

4 Proposals for Garbage, Recycling & Organics Collection Services

The South Bayside Waste Management Authority (SBWMA) has received four proposals in response to its Request for Proposals (RFP) released on November 1st for franchised collection services for solid waste, recyclables and organics. The proposals start an evaluation and selection process which will culminate in the roll out of dramatically expanded and more convenient recycling and organics (plant materials and food scraps) collection programs for residents. The new services will start in 2011 and will include wheeled carts for weekly collection of solid waste, recyclables, and organics.
