Fire Department
Fire Department services in San Carlos are provided by the Belmont-San Carlos Fire Department (formerly known as South County Fire Authority). The Department is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) made up of the cities of San Carlos and Belmont.
The Belmont-San Carlos Fire Department provides fire protection in a service area that covers San Carlos, Belmont and the Harbor Industrial Area. The service area totals 8.86 square miles and a residential population over 53,000. Review of Fire Service Options in San Carlos In December 2004, the San Carlos City Council began studying options to provide Fire Department Services in San Carlos. In July, 2006 the City Council decided to continue to receive Fire Department services from the Belmont-San Carlos Fire Department (formerly known as South County Fire Authority) and to bring a Proposed Fire Assessment revenue measure to property owners in San Carlos.
