Item Title: Discussion of Reconsidering One or More of the Actions Taken at the May 8, 2006 City Council Meeting Providing Direction to Staff Regarding Athletic Field Improvements
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council discuss the actions taken at the May 8, 2006 City Council meeting for potential reconsideration and provide direction as to whether further Council consideration of any specific action should be scheduled for a future City Council agenda.

There is no impact to discuss reconsidering one or more of the actions taken at the May 8, 2006 City Council meeting.
Background
The City Council at their May 15, 2006 meeting provided direction to agendize a discussion about potentially reconsidering one or more of the actions taken at the May 8, 2006 City Council meeting regarding direction to staff for athletic field improvements. The actions taken are detailed below:
- Do not sell the Chilton Property
- Crestview Drive property status to be decided in future discussions
- Do not install ball field lights at Heather School, Tierra Linda Middle School or Stadium athletic field in Highlands Park
- Synthetic turf should be installed on one or more athletic fields
- Convert the Highlands Park lower athletic field from a natural grass sand based field to a soil based natural grass field
- Convert the natural grass Tierra Linda Middle School lower athletic field to synthetic turf
- Convert the natural grass Tierra Linda Middle School upper athletic field to synthetic turf
- Renovate the natural grass Heather School athletic field keeping it as a natural grass field
- Convert the natural grass Central Middle School athletic field to synthetic turf
- Discuss a Parks and Recreation Master Plan at the City Council/Staff Strategic Plan retreat in August
- Develop a strategy to acquire additional parkland including potential funding
- Staff to return to City Council with a report discussing the actions taken detailing how they can be accomplished and applicable ramifications.
This item has been put on the agenda for discussion purposes only per City Council direction. Staff suggests that any Council interest in re-visiting a particular action(s) above be noticed specific to that action(s) at a future City Council meeting.

The alternatives available to the City Council include:
- Discuss the actions taken at the May 8, 2006 City Council meeting for potential reconsideration and provide direction as to whether further Council consideration of any specific action should be scheduled for a future City Council agenda
- Not discuss the actions taken at the May 8, 2006 City Council meeting for potential reconsideration and provide direction as to whether further Council consideration of any specific action should be scheduled for a future City Council agenda
- Provide staff with alternative direction.
