Contact Person: Anna Kertel Program Description The Community Garden, located at the Adult Community Center, promotes intergenerational activities in a pesticide free garden environment, with produce grown to benefit the Adult Community Center lunch program and other non-profit organizations.
The Adult Community Center is a day use recreation center for community members, ages 55 and over. The Adult Community Center offers a variety of programs and services designed to promote health and wellness, enhance independence, promote lifelong learning and quality of life as well as strengthen community image and sense of place for senior community members. Adult Community Center HoursOpen Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Responsibilities- Basic gardening, such as planting, watering, and maintaining of flowers and vegetables
- Maintain record of completed gardening work, concerns noted, questions and feedback in “Garden Log Book”
- Work together with people of all ages in creating a beautiful garden environment at the Senior Center
Qualifications- Be a team player
- Be interested in gardening and planting activities
- Willing to follow instructions and work with the Approved Garden Plan
Time Commitment- Volunteer at least once a month for a minimum of 4 months
Training Provided- Job orientation and training will be provided by Gardening Coordinator.
DirectionsThe Adult Community Center is on the corner of San Carlos Avenue and Chestnut Street:
- From 101 South: Take Holly Street exit; cross over 101; proceed to El Camino & turn left /south on El Camino; make an immediate right onto San Carlos Avenue; proceed to Chestnut Street; turn left on Chestnut; park near the corner, or turn into underground parking on the left just past the Center.
- From 101 North: Take Holly Street exit; turn right; proceed to El Camino and
turn left / south. Turn right on San Carlos Avenue, proceed to Chestnut Street; turn left and park near the corner, or turn into underground parking on the left just past the Center.
