Building inspection can usually be scheduled for the next business day, although more notice is always better both for you and the city. The City of San Carlos has a better than 99 percent track record of providing building inspections on the date they were requested. For more than five years, the city has had a program called the "1/2B4 Inspections." This procedure allows you to leave a phone number with the clerk when you call in for your inspection, normally the next day. Half an hour before the inspector is set to arrive at your job site, the inspector will call that number, and both you and your inspector will likely meet at the job at about the same time. Be sure that you can reach your project within that time period. (No answering machines: the phone needs to be live.)
