How does City Hall communicate with its citizens?
City Hall communicates with its citizens in a variety of ways. The following is a summary.

Enhanced City Web Site
At the end of June 2001, the city launched its new website. The site is very different than traditional websites in that it is a dynamic website driven by content management software. This allows city staff to post information more rapidly and keep the information more current.

Since the launch of the new website, city employees in most departments have received training to enter and update information about their services, programs and events. This information is checked by the Information Technology Department staff and posted on the web.

The new website also has more types of information than it did in the past along with new ways to find information through the use of website sections.

"San Carlos Edition"
Another way City Hall communicates with citizens is through the San Carlos Edition section of the "San Carlos Parks & Recreation Department Activity Guide/City Edition.” The City Edition is a three-page city newsletter that covers key programs and projects going on in the city. It includes a two-page section called “In the Community” that spotlights services provided to San Carlos residents by the city and non-profit agencies.

eMail Delivery Services
The City eMail Service offers interested members of the community the ability to register to receive "Today in San Carlos", the City's email newsletter, which is published every two to four weeks; City Council Agendas & Minutes; Planning Commission Agendas & Minutes; Parks and Recreation Agendas & Minutes; Traffic and Transportation Commission Agendas & Minutes; History, Arts & Sciences Agendas & Minutes; San Carlos Youth Advisory Council Agendas & Minutes; Senior Citizens Advisory Board Agendas & Minutes. You can register to receive all these publications or pick and choose the ones you are interested in. For more information or to register on-line visit City Departments.

Cable TV and City Cable TV Channel
The city is continuing as one of the sponsors of Peninsula TV, Cable Channel 26 to prepare programs such as the annual Mayor's "State of the City" address and the League of Women Voters' "City Council Candidate Forum" that appear on Pen TV. There is also a dedicated city Cable TV Channel, Comcast Cable channel 27, which broadcasts all City Council meetings and other City related programs. It also provides a continuous slide show of events and activities within the city of San Carlos.

Chamber of Commerce Information Brochures
The city's Redevelopment Agency contracts with the Chamber of Commerce to produce informational brochures that are sent to all San Carlos residents throughout the year. Past topics have included project updates, e.g., new developments, grade separations, library, youth center, and the Laurel Street Improvement project. Other topics have included downtown parking, the city's budget, and Redevelopment Agency activities. These popular brochures provide a continual update on the many happenings in the community.

On-line Municipal Code
The City's new and improved on-line Municipal Code is now available through the City website. The search features of this useful tool have been enhanced for easier public access and will be updated within two weeks of action being taken by the City Council. To access the new on-line Municipal code, visit Building.
