City Strategic Goals and Objectives

Overview
On Monday, February 13, 2006, the City Council, City Clerk, City Treasurer and the City Department Heads met at the San Carlos Library Conference Room in a Strategic Planning Retreat. Subsequent retreats have been held every six months since then to update these Goals and Objectives as well as establish a Mission Statement, a Vision Statement and Core Values for the City.

The most recent Strategic Retreat was held on Monday, August 29, 2011.  At that retreat, the City Council met with the City Manager and Department Directors to establish the objectives in each of the 5 Strategic Goal areas.

The City of San Carlos provides high quality services and facilities in a fiscally sustainable, responsive and friendly manner to foster a safe and healthy community.

Vision Statement
By 2012, the City of San Carlos will be a vibrant and thriving home to and destination for individuals, families and businesses.

3 Year Strategic Goals (2009-2012)

  • Plan for and implement long-term financial sustainability
  • Provide effective and sustainable public safety
  • Manage effectively the infrastructure and facilities
  • Enhance community awareness, involvement and engagement
  • Preserve and enhance our distinct community character

6 Month Strategic Objectives (August 29, 2011 - February 28, 2012)
As noted above, the strategic objectives are a set of tasks under each of the City's Three Year Strategic Goals that bring the City closer to achieving these goals. Here is a listing of these goals along with when they are slated for completion, who will take the lead on each objective and a description of each objective.
