He attended the University of Florida and majored in Material Science Engineering. He spent several years in Washington, D.C. working for the Discovery Channel. In 1998, he moved to California to work for @Home Networks and then Netscape. Omar Ahmad was a technology visionary and seasoned entrepreneur with more than 18 years of experienced leadership in building, running and securing critical internet infrastructure. Mr. Ahmad served on the San Carlos Economic Development Advisory Commission for several years and was a graduate of the 2005 San Carlos/Redwood City/Belmont Leadership class, focusing on the County’s most pressing issues, including transportation, health care, law enforcement and housing. He was the Co-Founder and Chairman of Webmonsters, served on the Board of Advisors for the National Youth Science Camp Alumni Association and the Technical Advisory Board for Platial.com. He was a frequent speaker on copyright/IP issues, internet infrastructure, security and policies. Mr. Ahmad was passionate about service and giving back to my community. He was an avid photographer, pilot and mountaineer with successful summits of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Elbrus.
