Members of Fine Arts Association and Museum of San Carlos History were present to review this correspondence.

Approval of Minutes
Minutes of March 6, 2006 were reviewed.Commissioner Mahar noted a correction under 7b) CommitteeReports-San CarlosMuseum, to read “president of the Villagers”. Motion made to approve the minutes as amended, M/S Strauss/ Hoffman.Motion carried 5.0.
Unfinished Business
a. Strategic Planning for City Art Purchases
Commissioners reviewed the public art plan and determined that no resources are identified at this time to establish a strategic art plan.
b. Sesquicentennial Celebration
Presentation by Nancy Oliver, appointed by the San Carlos Arts and Culture Commission to represent the City of San Carlos on this Countywide committee.Upcoming events include: May 7- Old Woodside Store day; May 13- Maritime Day; August 12- Historic Steam Engine Run, San Carlos Museum to work on display at station on this day; September 9- Historic Association Walking Tour and ice cream social at the San Carlos Museum.
New Business
a. Diwali Festival
Commissioner Aguirre proposed event date for Friday, November 3, 7-9PM in City Hall Park.Draft Sponsorship Packages were reviewed and Commissioner assignments were appointed.Motion to approve 2006 Diwali Festival on November 3 at CityHallPark with sponsorships to cover costs.M/S Aydelott/ Strauss.Motion carried 5.0.
b. Strategic Plan for Art and Culture Projects
Commissioners determined that no resources are identified at this time to establish a strategic art plan and referenced the San Mateo County Art Plan.
c. Review Draft Cultural Grant Application Template
Motion made to postpone this item to September Commission meeting.M/S Strauss/ Hoffman.Motion carried 5.0.
d. Election of Officers
Motion made to appoint Commissioner Mahar as Chairperson and Commissioner Aguirre as Vice Chair.M/S Strauss/ Hoffman.Motion carried 5.0.
Committee Reports (informational)
a. Sister Cities (Mahar)
Commissioner Mahar reported on Sister Cities committee projects:
SCC approved financial support to San Carlos, Nicaragua as a matching grant for computer access and internet service.
SCC approved financial support to Katrina relief efforts.
b. San Carlos Museum (Mahar)
Museum board members, Neil Chichizola and Dick Cox, provided update on expanded Museum hours, open all Saturdays in June for joint San Carlos Fine Art and Museum Exhibit with reception featured on Friday, June 2, 2006.Invitations will be sent to City Department Heads, Council members and Commissioners.
c. San Carlos Fine Arts Association (Hoffman)
Commissioner Hoffman reported that the Fine Arts Association will be hosting the second annual Hometown Days Art Exhibit in BurtonPark and will be adding a new Art exhibit titled “August Arts”every Saturday in August at Laurel Street Park.
d. Artshare (Aguirre)
Commissioner Aguirre reported that the City of San Carlos renewed their annual membership this month with Artshare.Also reported, Artshare is pursuing credit card processing and reviewing membership benefits.

g. Concert Series (Aydelott)
Commissioner Aydelott reported the Summer Concert Series will run on Friday evenings from July 7- August 25, 2006.
