Arts & Culture Commission Minutes - October 1, 2007

The regular meeting of the Arts and Culture Commission was called to order at 5:35 P.M. by Megan Mahar.

Aaron Boussina, Youth Advisory Council

Joshua Frisch, Youth Advisory Council

Staff present:  Barry Weiss, Parks and Recreation Director

Corespondence

  • Building Community Task Force – “First Night San Carlos”
  • Peninsula Arts Council – “Diamond Awards Nominations”
  • Staff representation – Barry Weiss reported that he will be the Commission’s City liaison through December, 2007.

Adjourned to Study Session

The Commission adjourned to the posted study session at 5:39 p.m.

Re-Adjourned from the Study Session

Commissioner Aguirre arrived at 6:21 p.m.

The Commission re-adjourned from the study session at 6:22 p.m.

Unfinished Business

a. Election of Officers

Motion to re-elect Megan Mahar as Chair and Steven Aguirre as Vice-Chair.

M/S – Mary Jo/Mike Motion carried 4:0

b. Appointment General Plan Update Committee Representative and Alternate

Commissioner Mahar appointed Mary Jo Hoffman as the representative and Steven Aguirre as the alternate.

Public Comment

Aaron Broussina, Youth Advisory Council, recommended that the Commission identify goals and resources to support those goals.Joshua Frisch, Youth Advisory Council, recommended that the Commission work with local businesses to display art.

Both Youth Advisory Council representatives shared that members of other Commissions have visited with the Youth Advisory Council, and suggested that the Arts and Culture Commission do the same.

There being no further business, the meeting of October 1 was adjourned at 6:44 p.m.
