Meeting Minutes of April 2, 2008

The meeting was called to order by Chair Scot Marsters at 4:05 p.m.

Order Of Business

1. Review of EDAC March 5, 2008 Meeting Minutes

Action:

Unanimously approved EDAC March 5, 2008 Meeting Minutes

2. Old Business

Mr. Sawicki reported that, at a strategic planning meeting in March, the City Council identified two ED goals as priorities for the next six months: the Mid-term Review of the RDA Five Year Implementation Plan and an evaluation of potential development of the Landmark Hotel site.Other goals identified by staff and EDAC remain important but their priority was deferred in the interests of focus on completion of the two priority goals.

East side community meetings are planned, including the monthly HIA luncheon, to present and discuss the ED Plan objective of locating more retail use on the East Side and the contents of the Development Opportunities book the City has prepared.

Scot Marsters reported that there was a GPAC meeting on Thursday April 5 to discuss economic and other impacts of alternative uses being considered in a dozen study areas of the City.

Gary Weissinger provided an update on the Economic Development Partnership’s continuing discussion of a marketing strategy and program for San Carlos.

3. New Business

  • Reviewed East Side Economic Development Opportunity Sites book
  • Discussed EDAC Work Plan 2008-2009

Mark Green requested that EDAC define the deliverables for each task. Gary Wiessinger requested that EDAC state a goal for each task to illuminate & clarify each. Dates for completion were discussed & changed. EDAC directed staff to update the document with the recommended changes and present to Council for approval on April 14th.
