Action Commissioner Merala moved to approve the minutes of the meeting of December 6, 2006 as written. Seconded by Chairperson Harris and carried 3:0. Presentations Community Values of Parks and Recreation – Barry Weiss 1) Informational Presentation and Community Values List Unfinished Business- None.
New Business a. Review of Proposed Parks Master Plan Request for Proposals (RFP) The Commission provided many suggested enhancements to the proposed Request for Proposals (RFP) for Master Planning of Parks, Open Space, Buildings and Other Recreational Facilities.Director Weiss thanked the Commission for the quality of their offerings. b. Endorsement of Conceptual Trails Plan The Commission recommended the City Council approve the Conceptual Trails Plan.Moved by Vice Chair Burton and seconded by Commissioner Merala.Passed 3:0 Commission Reports
a.Task Force Reports 1) A brief report of the actions of the Building Community Task Force was presented by Vice Chair Burton. The full report will be presented by Mayor Davids to the City Council. 2) Chairperson Harris reported she had the first meeting with our City Council liaison – Vice Mayor, Brad Lewis. Their discussion included: - They will meet quarterly.
- Vice Mayor Lewis suggested the City Council should hear all alternatives to an issue - not just our top recommendation.
- Creating a work plan to establish annual goals - not just large, global goals
- Joint meeting with other commissioners, Youth Council, Etc.
- Be more proactive in communicating with the City Council
Staff Reportsa. Parks and Recreation Programs and Services 1) Professor John Crompton Dinner – February 12 Discuss Potential Agenda Topics for Future EDAC Meetings a. Recommendation to City Council to include Recreation Element, Trails Component and Statement of Value of Parks, Recreation and Open Space in the upcoming General Plan update.Public Comment None. Set Date and Time of Next Meeting The Commission set Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 7:00 P.M. as date and time for next meeting. AdjournmentThe meeting adjourned at 9:35 P.M.
