1. Meeting Called To Order

Chair, Steve Divney called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

3. Approval Of Minutes

M/S Phillips/Iwasa to approve the September 6, 2005 Planning Commission minutes with no changes. Motion passed 5:0.

5. New Business

a)The application of Barry Wicks of Baymark Signs for ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW consideration of one internally illuminated double-faced pole sign of approximately 80 square feet for tenant, “Major Auto Body”, at the front of the property at 1700 El Camino Real and pursuant to Chapter 18.150 of the San Carlos Municipal Code. (Assessor Parcel Number: 051-375-010)

Staff made a brief presentation of Major Auto Body signage at 1700 El Camino Real.

M/S Phillips/Royce to approve the Architectural Review for Major Auto Body’s freestanding pole sign. Motion carried 5:0.

b)The application of Ralph Buchner of Corporate Sign Systems for ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW consideration of one illuminated channel letter sign of approximately 69 square feet for tenant, “Postini” on the northwest elevation of 959 Skyway Road and pursuant to Chapter 18.150 of the San Carlos Municipal Code. (Assessor Parcel Number: 046-081-770)

Staff made a brief presentation of “Postini” signage at 959 Skyway Road.

M/S Royce/Thompson to approve the Architectural Review for the “Postini” signage.

Motion carried 5:0.

6. Public Hearing

a)Public hearing for the purpose of hearing and considering all comments of all persons interested in or concerned with the application of JMS Development for a Subsequent Mitigated Negative Declaration and Grading and Dirt Haul Approval Certificate pursuant to San Carlos Municipal Code Chapters 12.08 and 15.36 associated with a previously approved four-story mixed use building consisting of 104 residential dwelling unit, 8,540 square feet of retail/office space and one level of underground parking located four-story mixed-use building located at 1000 and 1022 El Camino Real and 1025 Laurel Street,(APN’s:051-354-010,040,090,100,110and120).

Staff Made a brief presentation on the Subsequent Mitigated Negative Declaration and Grading and Dirt Haul Certificate.

John Baer, applicant spoke in favor of the project.

Kurt Wurnitsch, BKF Engineer, spoke in favor of the project.

M/S Iwasa/Phillips to approve the Subsequent Mitigated Negative Declaration and Grading and Dirt Haul Certificate. Motion carried 5:0.

M/S Iwasa/Phillips to approve at 1000 El Camino Real, Grading and Dirt Haul Certificate. Motion carried 5:0.

8. Reports, Correspondence And General Information

a)Report on recent City Council actions

The City Council affirmed the Planning Commission decision to approve Pet Food Express at 1129 Old County Rd.

b)Planning Commission comments or reports

Thompson will not be able to attend the Field Committee Meeting on Thursday. Randy Royce will check his schedule to see if he could take his place.

c)Correspondence

None

d)Planning Staff comments, reports and updates of current projects

Staff informed the Commissioners, the next Planning Commission Meeting will be November 7, 2005 with a presentation by Terry Bottmley on the MTC grant for street improvements around the train station.

Meeting adjourned at 7:39pm. The next Planning Commission meeting will be held on Monday, November 7, 2005.
