I.Meeting Called To Order

Chair, Steve Divney called the meeting to order at 7:00pm.

III.Approval Of Minutes

M/S Thompson/Iwasa to approve with minor changes of August 15, 2005 Minutes.

Motion passed 5:0.

M/S Thompson/Iwasa to approve with minor changes of August 15, 2005 Special Meeting.

Motion passed 5:0.

Steve Divney changed the order of the agenda to allow Public Comment prior to the New Business item.

IV.Public Comment

Scot Marsters located at 990 Cherry Street, agreed with Tim Gordon’s points regarding Sterntaler Bakery appeal, located at 915A Terminal Way.

1. Recommended increasing notification radius for industrial uses abutting the residential area.

2. Concerned with cumulative noise impacts to the neighborhood.

3. Inquired about the process of enforcement of Conditional Use Permits.

V.New Business

a)The application of Tom Whitson of Arrow Sign Company for ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW consideration of one illuminated channel letter sign of approximately 79 square feet for tenant, "Nuvelo" on the southeast side of 201 Industrial Road (Assessor Parcel Number: 046 020 370).

Staff made a brief presentation of “Nuvelo" signage located
201 Industrial Road.

Tom Whitson, applicant spoke in favor of the project.

M/S Phillips/Royce to approve the signage at 201 Industrial Road. Motion Passed 5:0.

VI.Public Hearing

a)Public hearing for the purpose of hearing and considering all comments of all persons interested in or concerned with the application of JMS Development for a Grading and Dirt Haul Approval Certificate pursuant to San Carlos Municipal Code Chapters 12.08 and 15.36 associated with a previously approved four-story mixed use building consisting of 104 residential dwelling unit, 8,540 square feet of retail/office space and one level of underground parking located four-story mixed-use building located at 1000 and 1022 El Camino Real and 1025 Laurel Street, (APN’s: 051-354-010, 040, 090, 100, 110 and 120).

M/S Thompson/Phillips to approve the continuation of 1000 and 1022 El Camino Real and 1025 Laurel Street to a date uncertain. Motion Passed 5:0.

VII.Reports, Correspondence And General Information

a)Report on recent City Council actions

Staff reported that the City Council upheld the approval of Sterntaler Bakery, located at 915A Terminal Way.

b)Planning Commission comments or reports

None.

c)Correspondence

Staff informed Commissioners on Multifamily Design Guidelines, Winding Way and Kohl’s interests in relocating at the Breuners’s site.

d)Planning Staff comments, reports and updates of current projects

Staff informed Commissioners at this time there are no updates on current projects. Next meeting may be cancelled.

VIII.Public Comment

Scot Marsters thanked the Planning Commissioners for the first public comment.

Meeting Adjourned at 7:16 P.M. The next planning Commission Meeting will be held on Monday, September 19, 2005.
