I. Meeting Called to Order

Chair Royce called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

II. Roll Call

All Commissioners present

III. Approval of Minutes

M/S Thompson/Divney to approve the minutes, as amended, of the November 5, 2007 Planning Commission meeting.Motion passed 5-0

IV. Public Comment

None.

V. Public Hearing

Application for Architectural Review consideration of one reversed illuminated channel logo and letter building sign of approximately 59.4 square feet for tenant “Mark Logic” on the south side of the building at 999 Skyway Road (Assessor’s Parcel Number 046 081 780).

Michael Fossati, Planner I made a presentation on the project and answered questions of the Commission.

Chair Royce asked if there was any public comment.

The Commission to close the public hearing.

M/S Phillips/Divney that the Planning Commission serving as the Architectural Review Committee, approve the reversed illuminated channel logo and letter building sign of approximately 59.4 square feet for tenant Mark Logic at 999 Skyway Road, based on the findings and conditions incorporated in the Staff report.

Motion passed 5-0.

VI. Reports, Correspondence and General Information

a) Report on recent City Council actions

Deborah Nelson, Planning Manager reported on the City Council actions at their November 13, 2007 meeting regarding the Planning Commission recommendations for the Interim Urgency Ordinances.She advised the Commission that an alternative proposal will be on the Planning Commission agenda for a Public Hearing at the meeting of December 3, 2007.

b) Planning Commission comments or reports

Planning Commissioners Phillips and Iwasa congratulated Chair Royce on his election to the City Council and thanked him for his service on the Planning Commission and contributions to the City. Commissioner Thompson noted he would reserve his comments for Chair Royce’s last meeting on the Planning Commission.

Chair, Royce reported on the status of RDRC action minutes posted on-line.He indicated his interest to evaluate the process in six months. Chair Royce suggested that if vacancies occur on the Planning Commission as a result of the November 6, 2007 City Council elections that efforts will be made to seek out qualified individuals, including from other City Committees and Commissions.

Chair Royce reported on the invitation from the Museum for a free entry night on November 30, 2007 and encouraged attendance.

c) Correspondence

None.

d) Planning Staff comments, reports and updates of current projects

Deborah Nelson, Planning Manager reported on the Building Community Task Force meeting which was held 10:00 am to Noon on Saturday, November 10th in the Library Rooms A&B for the purpose of community input on the General Plan. She noted that Commissioner Phillips had also attended.Commissioner Phillips described the attendance at the meeting and the outcomes.The results of the Community input will be transmitted to GPAC.

Deborah Nelson, Planning Manager reported on some up coming meetings:

1) The Planning Commission will be invited to a General Plan study session with the City Council tentatively scheduled for January 14, 2007.

2) Planning Commission re-organization will be scheduled for either December 17, 2007 or January 7, 2008.

Deborah Nelson, Planning Manager reported on the Transit Oriented Development Tour held on Wednesday November 7, 2007.She indicated that Commissioner Phillips had also attended. Four sites were included in Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Menlo Park and Redwood City.Commissioners asked what features were preferred. Commissioner Phillips reported on the Franklin Street project in Redwood City.Commissioners Divney and Iwasa asked for electronic versions of information.

Deborah Nelson, Planning Manager reported on the receipt of a FOCUS designation for the Transit Corridor by the Association of Bay Area Governments.

Commissioner Phillips inquired about the application period for the Planning Commission opening.

VII. Adjournment

Chair Royce adjourned the meeting at 7:30 p.m.
