Friday Is Ratatouille Day (pronounced rat*a*too*ee) in San Carlos !
DECLARING JUNE 29, 2007
IN THE CITY OF SAN CARLOS
Whereas, the City of San Carlos is simmering with enthusiasm over the June 29, 2007 release of Disney/Pixar’s newest animated movie, Ratatouille*, the tale of Remy, a rat who is torn between following his dreams of being a chef in Paris, France or returning forever to his previous existence as a simple rat; and
WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Brad Lewis has been basting this movie to perfection as the producer of Ratatouille for the past five years folding in layers of talent and handfuls of creativity; and
Whereas, Vice Mayor Lewis prepared a Ratatouille Pre-Release Charity Screening on June 9, to directly benefit the San Carlos Parks and Recreation Foundation and the San Carlos Education Foundation, so that the youth of San Carlos may follow their own dreams; and
WHEREAS, the charity event included a private tour of Pixar Studios in Emeryville, educating guests on the making of Ratatouille, and defying all pre-conceived notions of (gasp!) having a rat in the kitchen; and
Whereas, the San Carlos community is eagerly anticipating the U.S. domestic premiere of the movie on June 29.
Now, therefore, be it resolved, that I, Thomas J. Davids, Mayor of the City of San Carlos, do hereby Proclaim June 29, 2007 as “Ratatouille Day” in the City of San Carlos and wish much success to Vice Mayor Brad Lewis and Disney/Pixar in the release of Ratatouille. Dated this 2nd day of June, 2007.

* Ratatouille (pronounced rat*a*too*ee) is about a rat named Remy, who dreams of becoming a great French chef despite his family's wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent phobic profession. When fate places Remy in the sewers of Paris, he finds himself ideally situated beneath a restaurant made famous by his culinary hero, Auguste Gusteau. Despite the dangers of being an unlikely - and certainly unwanted - visitor in the kitchen of fine French restaurant, Remy's passion for cooking soon sets into motion a hilarious and exciting rat race that turns the culinary world of Paris upside down."
