How will the City pay for the priorities recommended in the Master Plan?Financing strategies will be developed for citizen and Council consideration. It is expected that there will be a combination of funding sources that may include public and private partnerships, fundraising, and public financing.

What types of facilities will the master plan address?The master plan will address all of the recreational facilities that are owned and/or operated by the City. This includes parks, community buildings, open space areas and trails, and medians.

Will the master plan make specific recommendations for changing or improving our parks?The master plan is a long range vision for all of the facilities contained in the City’s parks and recreation system. Specific recommendations will be made for many of the facilities, however further more detailed planning and design will be needed to implement the improvements in the future. An important component of the future design process will be neighborhood and public involvement.

How will citizens be involved in the Master Plan process?Planning will be conducted through an open public process, with every citizen invited to participate. This process is already underway with community stakeholder and focus group meetings and a website: How You Can Be Involved. The first community workshop will be held on Wednesday, September 5 at 7:00 pm in place of the regularly scheduled Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.Subsequent community workshops are planned for December 5, 2007 and March, 2008. Additionally, a scientifically valid telephone survey of residents will take place in September and October.

How can I get information about the Master Plan as it becomes available?Updates are provided regularly via the City’s e-notify system.You can sign up for these electronic updates through e-notify. This page will be regularly updated throughout the process.

How is the master plan being funded?The costs for consultants and staff time are being paid from the Capital Improvement Budget, Park-In-Lieu Fund with monies from development impact fees.These funds, by law, are restricted and cannot be used for General Fund expenses.
