No owner wants their business victimized. Crime can have devastating consequences, especially for smaller business. Crime can take the form of lost product, damage to the facility, lost earning capabilities and an intrusion on your valuable time! The good news is that there are a few simple things that you can do to improve your chances of not receiving that dreaded phone call from a police officer in the middle of the night telling you that your business was broken into.
Harden the Target
Make sure you have quality doors, door frame, deadbolt locks, windows and alarm system.
Harden the Inside
Make sure, whenever possible, that your stock is secure. Do not leave expensive display items in your front windows. Lock interior display cases.
Light It
Make sure the inside and outside of your business are adequately lit. Light is a proven deterrent and, in the case of a crime, may provide others an assist in getting a suspect's description and possibly a license plate number. Avoid leaving chairs, tables, etc. immediately outside your business. They can be used to break windows to gain entry or to vandalize your property. Be aware, when you open and close your business, of suspicious people or cars in the area. Trust your instincts. Don't go outside if you feel something is not right. Call us; we would be more than happy to check the area or give you an escort.
