| | Capital Projects Construction Update
- 2010 Winter Sidewalk Project-Construction is in progress and on schedule. As of Friday April 22, the contractor has completed 40 out of the 46 locations for this project. The project will be completed by the end of next week. On Thursday (April 21) afternoon, the contractor finished placing concrete for the valley gutter at the intersection of Elm Street and Belmont Avenue. The contractor came back the next morning and found the freshly placed concrete had been vandalized. Numerous roller blade or scooter wheel prints were found on the concrete. The damage was extensive. The contractor notified the Sheriff for investigation.
- 1 Devonshire Eucalyptus Tree Removal Project-The tree removal progress was in accordance with the plan. Early in the morning on April 19th, Professional Tree Care Company and PG&E showed up at 1 Devonshire Boulevard. Right after the traffic control was installed, PG&E shut down power in the area. The contractor removed the tree branches and cut down the trunk to about 10’ below the power line. Then, PG&E restored the power around 6 PM, in time for residents preparing their dinners. The contractor came back the following day to remove the remaining tree trunk and grinded the stump. Then the hole was temporary patched with aggregate base rocks. The asphalt pavement and the adjacent sidewalk will be repaired by the sidewalk contractor next week.
