The purpose of the meeting was to informally present and discuss alternatives for improving traffic flow and pedestrian/bicycle access on Holly Street and at the Highway 101/Holly Street interchange. Presentation of Project Alternatives During the meeting, the project consultants and Public Works staff presented a series of alternatives for traffic flow in this area. This included the baseline project to improve Holly Street and Highway 101 access. Next, the presentation moved to compare each proposed alternative ("A" thru "I") with the baseline project. A sketch plan was presented for each alternative. Potential project alternatives included both subtle changes to the baseline project as well as more creative and innovative approaches to improve the traffic flow. One of the more innovative ideas presented was a center median pedestrian/bicycle path across the interchange accessed from a roundabout at the Holly Street/Highway 101 intersection.
Discussion and Comments from the Community Members of the community was given the opportunity to ask questions and to provide input on the alternatives. Please find the summary of public comments from the meeting.
Next Steps After the Workshop Following the workshop, all of the alternatives will be compared in a screening matrix. A report on this screening matrix will be developed for the Transportation and Circulation Commission. The Commission will meet to consider this report at their meeting on November 17, 2009. |
