Mission Statement
The Department of Public Works is responsible for design, construction, contract administration and overall maintenance and operation of the City's transportation, stormwater, wastewater, and parking infrastructures.
Overall, the department comprises 16.5* FTE allocated to seven operational budgetary units:
Administration/Engineering
Fleet
Street Maintenance
Traffic Operations
Wastewater
Stormwater
Parking
Two capital budget units:

*The Public Works Director, along with the Parks & Recreation Director, shares departmental direction of a General Servcies Administrative Clerk who supports the mission of both departments.
The City of San Carlos Department of Public Works has key responsibility that includes the maintenance, clean-up and repair of the following:
106 miles of sewer mains and laterals
11,061 sewer service connections
680 storm drain inlets
8 sewer pump stations
3 storm pump stations
14.3 millions of gallons per day max - Treatment capacity
allocated to the City (SBSA)
1,711 street lights
26 signalized intersections
