Residential Design Review Committee

About the Residential Design Review Committee

The Residential Design Review Committee (RDRC) is comprised of three members: a planning commissioner appointed by the Planning and Transportation Commission; a resident volunteer appointed by the City Council; and an architect or design professional appointed by the City Council.

The RDRC assures the architecture and general appearance of new residential construction and some additions are in keeping with the character of the surrounding neighborhood.

Criteria for review by the RDRC:

  • All new homes;
  • Additions that create a residence greater than 3,000 square feet on lots less than 7,500 square feet in area;
  • Additions that create residences on slopes of five percent or greater with a total square footage equal to or greater than a percentage of the lot size, based on a sliding scale tied to slope of the lot; and
  • When the Community Development Director, in his or her opinion, has determined the public interest would be better served by referral of an item directly to the RDRC.

For more information on the committee,  please contact Principal Planner, Megan Wooley-Ousdahl at (650) 802-4291 or via email.

The RDRC meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 4:00 p.m. in the City Hall Enterprise Room, 600 Elm St., San Carlos.
