Biography
Sara McDowell was elected to the City Council in 2018, after having served on the San Carlos Economic Development Advisory Commission for two and a half years.
Since she and her husband moved to San Carlos in 2010 to raise their two school-aged children, she has been deeply involved in the community, including having served on the board of the San Carlos Education Foundation, the San Carlos Parks and Recreation Foundation and the San Carlos Day of Service.
Mrs. McDowell graduated with a B.A. from UC Davis and earned her Master’s Degree in International Affairs at the George Washington University. Prior to moving to San Carlos, Mrs. McDowell worked on international trade policy with Latin America for the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. Mrs. McDowell served as a Presidential Management Fellow from 2003-2005.
