Meet the Council

Our City Council consists of five Council Members. The appointment of the Mayor and Vice Mayor changes each year in December and is decided by a vote of the Council.

City Council Meetings

Meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the San Carlos Council Chambers, 600 Elm Street, San Carlos, unless otherwise noted.

Meetings are broadcast live on Comcast Cable Channel 27 and AT&T Uverse Channel 99, and are streamed on our website on the night of the meeting.

Public Comment

The public may address the City Council on any item listed on the agenda. The speaker slips are available in the back of the Council Chambers prior to the meeting. If you would like to fill one out prior to arriving, you can you can download the speaker slip at the link below. Please give your completed speaker slip to the City Clerk before the meeting or before the agenda item is heard.

When the Council reaches your item on the agenda, the Mayor will open the public hearing and call your name. Please come to the podium to speak. Each speaker generally has two minutes to speak per item. The amount of time allotted to speakers may vary at the Mayor's discretion, depending on the number of speakers or the length of the agenda.

City Council agenda documents may be viewed at our City Clerk's office at City Hall, the San Carlos Library at 610 Elm Street or at the link below on the Friday before the meeting.

Americans with Disabilities Act

In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, if you need special assistance to participate in a meeting, please contact our City Clerk. Notification 48 hours in advance of the meeting enables staff to make reasonable arrangements to ensure accessibility to the meeting.

City Booth at Farmers Market

About once a month, the City hosts a booth at the Farmers Market where one Council member and a City department will be featured.  This is a great opportunity for you to meet your City officials!
